Sorrows Into Joy was born out of God’s leading and a deep desire to serve others. One morning on my way to work, I noticed a car broken down on the side of the road. A handwritten note on the windshield read, “Please do not tow—I get paid Friday.” That simple message stayed with me. I couldn’t shake the thought that someone who was working hard still couldn’t afford a tow, let alone the cost of repairs. I began to ask myself: How many people are in this same situation? How are they supposed to move forward when they can’t even get their vehicle fixed?
In the months that followed, my family and I experienced a challenging season—one in which we were deeply grateful for the support and generosity of others. Then, on October 12, 2025, God provided a clear confirmation of the path ahead. Our church’s youth group leader shared a vision: Alice in Wonderland, small and standing at the bottom of the rabbit hole before a locked door. She looked up to see the key on a high table, seemingly out of reach. Then came the words: “You do not need the key; you are the key to unlock the door.”
The very next day, my wife listened to a sermon that spoke about individuals struggling to afford car repairs. She then reminded me of the idea I had shared months earlier. That moment of affirmation became the spark that ignited Sorrows Into Joy.
Our Purpose
The mission of Sorrows Into Joy is simple: to show kindness, mercy, and love by helping those in need regain reliable transportation. Our values are guided by Scripture—by Luke 6:31, “Do to others as you would have them do to you,” and by the call in Zechariah 7:9–10 to show compassion and protect the vulnerable.
We support individuals and families experiencing financial hardship:
- Those on fixed incomes
- Those working but still struggling
- Those temporarily unemployed
- College students
- Individuals facing unexpected medical or personal crises
Our goal is to remove the burden of transportation so people can keep working, caring for their families, and moving forward in life.
We also recognize the biblical principle in 2 Thessalonians 3:10: “If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat.” Our mission is to assist those who are genuinely trying, genuinely in need, and genuinely striving to improve their circumstances—not those who are idle by choice.
How We Serve
Sorrows Into Joy partners with trusted, local mechanics who have a heart for helping others. After assessing each situation, we either cover the full cost of repair or pay the labor while the individual pays for the parts. We believe that having a small investment in their own vehicle helps people value and maintain it long-term.
Through God’s guidance, generosity, and community support, we strive to turn moments of sorrow into joy—one repaired vehicle at a time.
